Character Reference letter HELP

I have to write a character reference letter for my son's upcoming sentencing. I wrote a couple, but I just feel like it's too "wordy" and I don't know if I'm writing a good one. Does anyone have any tips/suggestions or even an example that they know was a good letter? The stress and anxiety doesn't help with my focus. Ugh!!! Please help!!

  • Thanks everyone. I ended up getting a Character Reference format from our lawyer and that really
helped. I'm guessing if it's not a good letter, he will let me know. So we will see!! I'm so tired and hope the judge accepts the plea next week so my son can finally be sentenced. This has all been so emotionally draining!
  • I'm pretty good at editing. If you want me to review hat you write, I'll be glad to do it. But I have no experience with what is good/appropriate so I would first look at the resources Rhonda mentioned. Good luck.
  • Hi Christina,

We have a resource page on the website. Go to the 'resource' tab on the navigation bar and click the tab, then click on the 'Support Letters' sub-tab. You'll find a link for 'character support letters'.

    Hope this helps....
